Game 3 Preview: Celtics-Wizards

This sounds like deja vu all over again, but after a disappointing loss, the Celtics look to change their fortunes tonight against the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are 0-1 after falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night 94-84, and tonight is their home opener.

The Celtics were absolutely embarrassed on their home court last night, which led to a memorable talking to from Kevin Garnett. Garnett addressed the players alone after the game in the locker room and tried to get everyone on the same page in a way that only KG would understand: comparing the team to a bunch of hyenas. Yes, that's right, hyenas. Let KG explain:

"Hyenas. Running in packs means that we help each other," Garnett explained. "Since I’ve been here, we’ve built the code on what these great organizations have been built on -- and that’s history. And that’s gained not by individual, but by team. And I just spoke upon that with everybody in here, without the coaches and everybody. Just letting all the new guys know what it is to be a [Celtic], reiterating that and letting them understand the severity of putting this jersey on and everything that comes with it. I won’t go into that -- it’s none of y’all business -- but I had to reiterate it tonight. I thought tonight was the perfect night to do that."

The Celtics were dominated in all facets of the game last night, so things can't be that bad again, right?

Projected lineups:

Celtics:
Rajon Rondo
Courtney Lee
Paul Pierce
Brandon Bass
Kevin Garnett

Wizards:
A.J. Price
Bradley Beal
Trevor Ariza
Trevor Booker
Emeka Okafor

Keys to the game:

1. Bench production: Who would've thought with the kind of bench that management put together during the offseason that they would be outscored in the first two games to start the season. That trend shouldn't continue. Look for a solid performance from Jason Terry, who has started out slow despite  scoring 10 points last night -- albeit they all came in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach.

2. Establishing Garnett: After not getting many touches in the first half of last night's game, the Celtics practically force-fed KG in the post in the second half. With Washington lacking size -- just like the past two games -- the Celtics should look to capitalize on this matchup.
