Halftime thoughts: Wizards 42, Celtics 37

After starting the game on an 11-2 run, the Celtics have struggled, and at times have struggled mightily. They trail at the half, 42-37.

*If Kevin Garnett was not playing tonight, the Celtics would be down by at least 20. Garnett already has 10 rebounds, including 9 in the first quarter. Garnett has been the only one trying to fight for positioning on the post and has always boxed out after every shot. It's clear that KG is still the MVP of this team (more on that later...)

*What happened to the Jeff Green Tom the preseason? He looks like he's sleepwalking out there. He's not the same aggressive player from the preseason. I'm still trying to figure out how he's a $36 million dollar player.

*KG and Paul Pierce look fresh. Considering they haven't played in 4 days, it's obvious the rest has done a lot to keep them fresh.

*After starting out so well on the defensive end, the Celtics appeared to have gone away from what got them their early lead. Washington out scored them 26-16 in the second quarter. They allowed three three-pointers in a row at one point in the second quarter, and players weren't rotating off screens. Again, it's all a work in progress.

*The Celtics have moved the ball really well so far. Lots of crisp passes and the ball hasn't stuck in one player's hands or on one side of the floor.

*Look for the Celtics to start the second half like they opened the game, with an up-tempo offense and lot of ball movement.
