Halftime thoughts: Knicks 56, Celtics 53

After an entertaining first half, the Celtics trail the Knicks, 56-53.

Here are some brief thoughts:

* Paul Pierce is doing it again. The captain is still scorching hot from the other night, as he leads the team with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

* The Celtics need to stop switching off screens. When that happens, New York is driving the Celtics crazy. It leads to missed defensive assignments and wide-open shots for the Knicks.

* That being said, when the Celtics slow the Knicks down and stick to their men, they're holding their own. They only allowed 21 points in the first after New York got off to a hot start.

* The Celtics have done a nice job defensively on Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith, the Knicks two-leading scorers on the season. The two have combined to shoot only 7-of-22.
