Wallace out for year

Celtics forward Gerald Wallace will miss the rest of the season after tearing his meniscus in his knee.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told reporters at today's practice that Wallace will need surgery.

"Listen, a lot of teams go through injury and we're going through our share right now and that's just part of it," Ainge said. "It's been very refreshing to have Gerald. He brings great energy to the game and great passion and intensity that I think our players and our fans feel. He will be missed."

Wallace had also been dealing with bone spurs in his ankle all season long. He was going to need surgery for those as well.

Wallace, 31, has two years and $20 million remaining on his contract.

In 58 games, Wallace averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 24.4 minutes. He shot 50.4% from the field.

Wallace's injury is just one of many that Ainge and head coach Brad Stevens talked about after today's practice.

As far as the others are concerned...

* Avery Bradley (sprained right ankle) will be reevaluated next week. Bradley has missed 13 of the last 16 games.

* Kelly Olynyk, who re-aggravated a left big toe injury on the team's West coast trip, is doubtful for tomorrow night's game against the Pacers.

* Jared Sullinger is questionable for tomorrow's game. Sullinger has missed the last three games after suffering a concussion in last Friday's loss against the Lakers.

* Vitor Faverani may need minor surgery on his left knee, but Stevens and Ainge did not rule him a return for Faverani by the end of the season.

And finally, birthday-gate.

Ainge told reporters that the air is clear with him and Rajon Rondo.

Rondo skipped the team's game in Sacramento to stay in Los Angeles for his birthday, according to numerous reports.

Rondo was not scheduled to play in the game anyway.

"It was between Rondo and I and I learned some things that I didn't know and we had a lot conversation about it and I'm satisfied with it," Ainge said. "He learned from it, too. Let's move on."
